We are always in need of innovative ideas to help raise
money and awareness of the SNAP program. SNAP relies on our
all-volunteer staff to accomplish our mission, so we would be
very pleased to have you aboard! If you choose to join our
family of volunteers, you will be rewarded with a deep sense
of satisfaction from knowing you are saving lives and ending
the suffering of so many homeless animals.
Please print out a
volunteer
application and
release
form and return it by mail as
soon as possible, so that we can match your interests and
skills with the many volunteer opportunities available. Also,
if you know any other animal lovers who you think would like
to help, we ask that you share this information with them and
encourage them to submit applications, too! We look forward
to working with you to end animal homelessness!
Raise Funds for Spay & Neuter Surgeries.
We do
this in many ways, including donations from personal
contacts, strategically placed donation canisters, and
fundraising events. We are open to new fundraising
ideas, and no amount of money raised is too small for helping
the animals. Some of our volunteers have arranged for local
musicians to perform benefit concerts. Other volunteers have
encouraged friends, families, and co-workers to plan and
carry out their own fundraisers. We have more than 200 ideas
for fundraisers for children, adults, individuals or groups.
One is sure to interest you, so give us a call!
Distribute Information About our Program.
It is
important to let people know who we are. We need to reach
those pet owners who desperately need our service, as well as
those members of our community who would be willing to
support SNAP's program through contributions. We need
volunteers to scout good locations for our donation
canisters, our spay/neuter posters, and other educational
information about the benefits of spay/neuter. We need
volunteers to keep these locations supplied with our
literature.
Educate the Public.
We need volunteers to develop
educational literature about animal overpopulation, the
importance of spay/neuter, and responsible pet ownership. We
do this with our newsletter, our web site, and handouts.
Raise Public Awareness.
We need volunteers to
coordinate with local media and civic leaders to join our
efforts to raise public awareness and encourage community
involvement. The only way we can achieve a
"no-kill" community is through community
involvement.
Recruit More Volunteers.
Volunteering is rewarding,
and it can be a lot of fun, especially when you get your
friends involved!
Solicit Donations of Goods & Services.
We want to
use all of our funds for spay/neuter surgeries, so we need to
find merchants who will donate printing, office supplies, and
items for raffle. We also need volunteers to bring in
corporate sponsors - local merchants willing to donate cash
or services for recognition at our events and in our
published materials.
Help Out at Events.
Volunteers are needed at our
information booths. Sometimes we sell donated items to raise
money, as well as distribute information and talk to the
public about their pets. We also need volunteers to hang
fliers for upcoming events and/or sell advance tickets for
the events.
Perform Administrative Tasks.
We need volunteers to
assist with our phone lines, with mailings, with certificate
sales, compiling statistics, etc. We need volunteers who are
computer literate in any of the following programs: Word,
Excel, Access, Publisher, Dreamweaver, Power Point, and Adobe
Acrobat PDF.
